Judge Who Sent El Chapo to Jail Shot and Killed While Jogging Near Home

Judge presiding over 'El Chapo's' case shot, killed while jogging outside home

Judge Vicente Bermudez Zacarias, 37, the judge who sent El Chapo to jail was shot and killed while jogging near his home.

The judged, named Vicente Bermudez Zacarias, lived in Metepec. This is 45 miles west of Mexico City. The person who shot Zacarias fled the scene. The judge died after being taken to the hospital in Metepec.

Judge Zacarias was not given any protection despite presiding over cases of drug lords.

Meanwhile, El Chapo is being held  in a federal prison on the outskirts of Ciudad Juarez. This borders El Paso, TX. By early 2017, the druglord could be extradited to the United States.
