70-Year-Old Bearded Man Wins Women's Only Competition in Florida

On Saturday night in Florida, a man who was 70 years old emerged victorious in a World Poker Tour ladies' event. It was reported that this individual had registered for the female-only competition for the sole reason that he “could pretend to identify as a woman because they allow anything nowadays.”

PokerNews.com reported that the WPT $3,500 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown commenced on Saturday night in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with David Hughes emerging as the ultimate winner after defeating 82 female participants.

Ebony Kenney, a female participant of the event, posted a video showing David Hughes surrounded by women at a table, with his white beard and wide smile on display. Hughes was the sole male present in the room, as per the footage.

“Playing the @WPT ladies event today, and Dave here is the only man,” Kenney tweeted. “(Filmed w/permission!) While we appreciate the dead money, I really wish men would get what these events stand for. So I put a $300 bounty on his head and Tamra & Noah Piderit matched it. Let’s get him.”

In professional poker, a bounty is a cash prize awarded to a player for eliminating a specific opponent marked as a "bounty" by other players. However, in Hughes' case, he won the $5,555 prize without being knocked out by anyone.

When a Twitter user hinted that Hughes might have identified as female, Ebony Kenney responded by stating that she had heard him openly ridiculing extremist gender theories, indicating that he did not identify as female.

Charlie Carrel, a fellow professional poker player, responded positively to Hughes' win in the women's tournament.

“Hilarious that he won,” Carrel tweeted before getting more in-depth discussing the issue.

“It pokes fun at the idea that anybody can identify as a woman and be allowed to enter women’s spaces,” Carrel said. “It’s a real issue that people are taking advantage of in many different areas, including sports, prisons, and changing areas. This has lead to some horrific repercussions (female inmates being raped in prison, or women getting destroyed in MMA fights by somebody who spent 95% of their life as a man).”

“It does suck that it comes at the expense of the women’s only space,” he continued. “I wouldn’t do it, even though I probably share the same criticisms.”

This is a tough look for the women's poker room. Do they request a do-over and try to take Dave down? Can you imagine if he won again?
