Amazon Prime members can now save money at the pump. On Wednesday, Amazon introduced a fuel savings benefit that offers 10 cents off every gallon of gas at around 7,000 U.S. gas stations.
Eligible stations include BP, Amoco, and ampm locations, according to the company.
To use this perk, Prime members must have an Earnify account linked to their Amazon account.
Both Amazon and Earnify contribute 5 cents per gallon, totaling 10 cents off for Prime members. This discount applies to all fuel grades, with no limits on the number of gallons.
To redeem the discount, members can enter their phone number or linked payment method at the gas station. The Earnify app is another option for accessing the savings.
"We’re constantly looking to add more value for Prime members," said Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Amazon Prime. "Perhaps the broadest and most popular additional benefit we could offer is fuel savings — we’re excited to give this to Prime members."
This new benefit comes as Walmart has offered a similar gas savings option for its paid members for some time. Earnify was launched by BP earlier this month to enhance user experience at gas stations and in stores.
As of late Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. was $3.155, down 1.6% from last month and 11.1% from last year.
In mid-June 2022, the average price peaked at a record-high $5.016 per gallon, according to AAA.
