Two of the the most feminine men I can think of, Presidential candidates Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Beto O'Rourke, went head to head during the fourth round of Democratic debates. It was quite comical, to say the least.
When asked about gun control, the mayor started off by saying, "People are dying in the streets. We can't wait for universal background checks....We can't wait to ban the sale of new weapons and high capacity magazines."
"We can't wait for red flag laws to disarm domestic abusers." Buttigieg continued, "We cannot wait for purity tests…we have to just get something done.”
In which O'Rourke responded, “This is not a purity test.” Arguing that if he were elected president and banned the sale of certain guns, then it would 'only make sense' to collect the existing weapons of that kind.
Buttigieg, who’s criticized O’Rourke’s proposal a “shiny object” that distracts from implementing gun control steps that enjoy widespread support, argued that O’Rourke’s answer showed a lack of clarity on whether a mandatory gun buyback program could work.
Beto claimed that Buttigieg's “shiny object” comment was a “slap in the face…to those who have survived gun violence, those who’ve lost a loved one to an AR-15, an AK-47.”
Buttigieg shot back at Beto, “I don’t need lessons from you on courage...political or personal”
Here is the clip:
On Wednesday, O'Rourke appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to discuss his plan to ban certain firearms if he were to be elected president. This is likely in response to his argument with Buttigieg on his 'lack of clarity' on how it would work.
Beto revealed that he expects the general public to just go along with the law. However, if they don't, then they can expect law enforcement to visit their home in order to “recover” the firearms.
“I think just as in any law that is not followed or flagrantly abused, there have to be consequences or else there is no respect for the law,” O’Rourke continued, “So you know, in that case, I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and to make sure that it is purchased, bought back so that it cannot be potentially used against somebody else.”
“But my faith is in this country and in my fellow Americans following the law and listening to people who own AK-47s and AR-15s who acknowledge, who concede they don’t need it for self-protection.” The former congressman added, “They don’t need it to hunt. Its real true purpose and use is on a battlefield.”
Democrats have truly lost their minds if they think red-blooded Americans will willingly hand over their guns.
