Chick-fil-A continues to shine with strong sales and top customer ratings in 2024. Despite its popularity, it was recently unseated as America's best fast-food restaurant in a surprising twist.
USA Today released the latest 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards. This annual ranking highlights top fast-food items and restaurants. Editors and fast-food experts picked their favorites, including best burger, fries, and overall chain. Readers then voted to determine the winners.
In 2023, Chick-fil-A topped the best overall fast-food chain list, thanks to its classic Chicken Sandwich. But this year, Del Taco, a regional Mexican chain, took the crown. Del Taco is now America's best fast-food chain for 2024.
"This popular taco stop serves burritos, quesadillas, nachos, burgers, fries, and even has a vegan and vegetarian menu," USA Today's 10Best editors noted.
Del Taco's win is notable as it didn't even make the top 10 in 2023. KFC secured second place this year, while Chick-fil-A came in third.
"Chick-fil-A is a favorite for many, including their cow mascots who urge you to 'eat mor chikin'," the ranking read. "Their classic chicken sandwich has been the most-ordered item for at least two years."
Del Taco also took the top spot for best fast-food fries in 2024, dethroning McDonald's from last year.
"Del Taco's crinkle cut fries hold salt and crispiness well, especially when covered in chili, queso, or carne asada," 10Best editors wrote.
