CNN Guest Under Fire After Attacking MAGA: 'Never Great'

Tiffany Cross didn’t hold back on CNN Tuesday. The former MSNBC host said America "was never great."

She appeared on the show to talk about a Signal chat leak. The chat included Trump officials discussing a strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Cross slammed the Trump administration as “inept.” She said they risked national security. Then she targeted Trump’s campaign slogan.

"They ran on this whole idea of this pseudo-patriotism, this aggressive, masculine patriotism, yet everything they're doing runs against ‘making America great,’" Cross said. "It was never ‘great,’ so I'm not going to say the ‘again’ part."

Republican Joe Borelli pushed back. But Cross stood firm.

"I absolutely feel that way. I think if you had the history my people had in this country, then you might have a modicum of understanding and respect for that. America was never great for me," she continued.

She said that America was only “great” for some. It’s a “common understanding,” she added.

Cross used to host "The Cross Connection" on MSNBC. She left in 2022 and now co-hosts the podcast "Native Land Pod."

Her comments were posted to X. Conservatives quickly responded.

"This is why the Democrats continue to lose," Republican strategist Thomas Hern wrote.

Ohio Rep. Josh Williams disagreed too.

"Tiffany Cross does not speak for all Black Americans," he wrote. "This country gave me the chance to rise from homelessness to the Ohio House of Representatives. I am living proof of the American Dream."

Cross circled back to the Signal leak. She said the administration still hadn’t taken responsibility.

The Trump team says no classified info was shared. On Wednesday, they called the Atlantic’s story a “hoax.”

The Atlantic published texts from the chat. One included Pete Hegseth talking about planes and drones being ready. There were timestamps.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X, “The Atlantic has conceded: these were NOT ‘war plans.’ This entire story was another hoax written by a Trump-hater who is well-known for his sensationalist spin.”
