The Joe Biden speech in Philadelphia Thursday night had a very strange, militaristic look to it. CNN anchor Brianna Keilar and national affairs correspondent Jeff Zeleny called Biden out for it.
"There’s nothing unusual or wrong with a President delivering a political speech — it’s inherent in the job description — but doing it against a backdrop of two Marines standing at attention and the Marine Band is a break with White House traditions," tweeted Zeleny with a photograph from Biden's speech.

"Whatever you think of this speech the military is supposed to be apolitical. Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that," Keilar tweeted.

Of course, many liberals, who probably are CNN viewers, took exception to this. How dare someone on CNN say something negative about Joe Biden.
This dummy Brianna Keilar. They watched as their daddy trump did every illegal tactic while in White House but now these bag of clipped toenails have issue with decorum and history. F @CNN and their maga ceo https://t.co/YQwi3AmXch

Jen used the liberal playbook of "everything I agree with is racist and fascist" for her tweet.
I’m not just going to unfollow you, I’m going to block you and the rest of CNN since it has been taken over by fascists.

Keilar followed up with a second tweet to clarify things. "It’s possible to agree with everything Biden said and still disagree with using Marines as backdrops for a political speech."
It’s possible to agree with everything Biden said and still disagree with using Marines as backdrops for a political speech. Easier for military connected folks to grasp, like @jaslow, an Iraq war vet and former executive director of the @dccc: https://t.co/CRGfKPZofK https://t.co/MBrVMoKqgA
