The Coca-Cola Company announced it will launch a new product made with real U.S. cane sugar this fall, marking a shift in its iconic soda formula for the first time in decades.

The news came during Coca-Cola’s second-quarter earnings report on Tuesday, part of what the company called its “ongoing innovation agenda.”

“This addition is designed to complement the company’s strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences,” the report stated.

The move follows former President Donald Trump’s public push for Coca-Cola to ditch high-fructose corn syrup. “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar... and they have agreed to do so,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “It’s just better!”

The company will still offer its standard high-fructose corn syrup version, but the cane sugar Coke will be a separate product, similar to the popular Mexican Coke sold in glass bottles.

The decision is being celebrated by supporters of the “Make American Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has called corn syrup “poison.”

Kennedy, a longtime critic of the sweetener, said it “is just a formula for making you obese and diabetic,” citing concerns backed by some studies linking corn syrup to rising obesity rates.

MAHA scored another victory over the weekend when Steak ‘n Shake announced it would serve Coca-Cola made with cane sugar. Kennedy cheered the news, posting simply: “MAHA is winning.”
