According to reports, famous comedian Mike Epps is currently being investigated after a loaded firearm was allegedly discovered in his luggage at the Indianapolis International Airport on Sunday.
Legal records suggest that during the security screening process, personnel found the loaded firearm in Epps' possession and immediately sought assistance. Epps was interrogated about the weapon and claimed that it was an inadvertent mistake on his part. According to TMZ, the renowned comedian, who was in town for a performance, stated that he completely forgot the gun was in his bag. Presently, no charges have been pressed, but the inquiry is still ongoing.

The firearm confiscated by law enforcement was a Smith & Wesson 642 AirWeight revolver with four rounds loaded, but none in the chamber, as reported by TMZ. It is worth noting that revolvers do not have a single chamber but a cylinder with several chambers, each of which can hold one round. TMZ's statement about the empty chamber may have implied that it was located to the right of the hammer, which would prevent the weapon from being discharged if the trigger was pulled once. Alternatively, the outlet may have meant that the hammer was positioned on the empty chamber, a redundant safety measure that was used in older single-action revolvers that had fewer safety features. In this scenario, pulling the trigger would result in firing the gun.
It is unclear why Epps was in possession of a loaded firearm, but the incident has prompted an investigation. While charges have not been filed at this time, the consequences of carrying a weapon in an airport can be severe. The TSA strictly prohibits guns in carry-on bags and imposes substantial fines on those who violate the law. Moreover, the offender may face criminal charges, fines, and imprisonment.
The weapon and bullets were confiscated and are currently being held by the police as evidence.
As per TMZ, the police have submitted a report on the incident to the Marion County Prosecutor's office to decide whether Epps will be charged with any criminal offenses related to the incident.
