Leo Terrell announced Thursday that he’s leaving Fox News for a role in the Trump administration.
On X Terrell revealed he’ll now serve as senior counsel to the assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. This ends his four-year career as a Fox News contributor.
Terrell said he will collaborate with Trump, Pam Bondi, and other officials to tackle civil rights issues. His focus will be on ensuring laws are enforced fairly nationwide.
“This is an honor,” Terrell said. “For those who’ve heard me speak about equality and fairness, help is on the way. For those who feel the system was misused against certain groups due to their political views, help is on the way.”
Once a strong Democrat, Terrell shocked many when he shifted his political stance in July 2020. He publicly endorsed Trump, his first Republican candidate.
Terrell said his transformation stemmed from frustration with the Democratic Party’s direction. He felt their policies no longer aligned with his values or supported the African American community’s best interests.
This new role represents another significant step in Terrell’s political journey. His partnership with the Trump administration underscores his commitment to these beliefs.
Supporters and critics alike are watching closely to see how Terrell will shape civil rights policy in this new chapter.
