Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to fight the good fight, as he adamantly declared on Sunday that Americans need guns now more than ever in light of President Joe Biden’s new gun control measures.
“There is no acceptable way that a president by executive order can infringe or alter Second Amendment rights,” Abbott asserted on “Fox News Sunday.”
“We need that self defense now more than ever,” he continued, noting the stark dangers of drug cartels entering Texas and the efforts to defund the police across the country. .
“Texans and Americans know they need the second amendment rights,” he continued. "If the president really wanted to do something substantively, what he could do by executive order is to eliminate the backlog of complaints that have already been filed about gun crimes that have taken place….by executive action could cut down on gun graft.”
Abbott's rationale for not supporting any gun control measures at all is that he says he talked to family members of 1 of the 6 people shot last week in Bryan, Texas, & they told him "the 2nd amendment is there for the purpose of self-defense & we need [that] now more than ever" pic.twitter.com/R7KPC7xueC

Last Thursday, Biden declared that no amendment is “absolute” and launched an outright attack on our 2nd Amendment rights.
"No amendment to the Constitution is absolute ... From the very beginning, you couldn't own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren't allowed to have weapons. So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we're recommending are contrary to the Constitution,” Biden said.
