House Votes in Favor of Impeaching Trump

After months of lies and debates, the House finally voted on the articles of impeachment. Nearly a hundred percent along party lines, the House voted in favor of impeaching the president.

On the first article, there were 230 in favor and 197 against. On the second article, there were 229 in favor and 198 against. Two Democrats, Jeff Van Drew and Collin Peterson, actually voted against the articles both times. A third Democrat, Jared Golden, voted for the first article but against the second.

Now the case will go to Senate for a trial. However, it would take two thirds of a vote to remove the president from office. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell gave assurance that he sees no way of that happening.

Wall Street Journal reports:

The impeachment resolution alleged that Mr. Trump pressured Ukraine’s president this summer to announce investigations that would benefit Mr. Trump politically, including by making $391 million in U.S. security aid against Russian aggression contingent on Kyiv going public with investigations. After Mr. Trump’s actions came to light, the resolution charges, he released the aid, but then obstructed the congressional probe into the matter.

House Democrats cast their action as a solemn constitutional responsibility and said they needed to remove Mr. Trump now before he could undermine the 2020 election by soliciting foreign interference.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “Our founders’ vision of a republic is under threat from actions from the White House. It is tragic that the president’s reckless actions make impeachment necessary. He gave us no choice.”

What a crock of bologna!

President Trump doesn’t seem to be phased by it though. He knows that he didn’t do anything wrong and he trusts the Senate to give a fair trial. He tweeted, “Can you believe that I will be impeached today by the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats, AND I DID NOTHING WRONG!”
