Dozens of Salt Life stores are closing after a recent purchase. Hilco Consumer-Retail Group, one of the new owners, announced Tuesday that all 28 locations will shut down.
Liquidation has started as the new owners work on restructuring the brand. Salt Life, founded in 2003 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, is a lifestyle, restaurant, and clothing brand.
Hilco and Iconix International purchased the apparel line after Delta Apparel Inc., the previous owner, filed for bankruptcy in June.
The two companies paid $38.74 million to acquire the brand. The sale was finalized on Thursday. Liquidation includes products, store fixtures, and displays.
Salt Life gift cards are valid until Oct. 20 this year.
The Salt Life Food Shack restaurants, a separate entity, are not affected by Delta's bankruptcy.
