'It Can't Be Both': Fox Host Blows Giant Hole in Dems Trump is a Dictator Argument

“Fox & Friends” host Lawrence Jones pointed out Friday that Democrats seem to contradict themselves. They claim President-elect Donald Trump is a dictator. At the same time, they argue Elon Musk is calling the shots.

For months, Democrats warned that Trump wants to be a dictator. Now, they suggest Musk is running the show after the fall of the House’s continuing resolution (CR). Jones called this out, saying it can’t be both ways.

“The last thing I’ll say on this,” Jones said, “is a lot of people are out there saying Elon Musk is the president-elect. Democrats need to pick a talking point. Either Donald Trump is a dictator and runs everything, or he’s ceded power to Elon Musk. It can’t be both.”

Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal voiced concerns Thursday on CNN. She claimed Trump has “ceded” power to Musk, calling him a “shadow president.” Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett echoed this, saying Musk is pulling Trump’s strings ahead of his term.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris and press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre labeled Trump a “fascist” in October. They referenced John Kelly’s accusations that Trump praised Hitler. Rep. Dan Goldman added that Trump aims to be a dictator, citing Trump’s claim that reelection will “fix” the nation.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned in September that Trump plans to be a dictator “on day one.” She shared this during an MSNBC interview with Rachel Maddow. Clinton was responding to Trump’s joke about being a dictator for one day.

Trump and Musk both opposed the initial 1,500-page CR bill. That legislation aimed to extend funding through 2025 and included a congressional pay raise and $100 billion in disaster relief. Trump supported a revised version introduced by House Republicans. The new bill cut the pay raise and a controversial Global Engagement Center authorization.

During a Thursday call with Fox News, Trump shrugged off claims that Musk is the “true president-elect.”

“But the Musk thing didn’t bother the president?” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked.

“No, it did not,” Jones replied. “The Musk tweet was a warning shot. They’re in sync on this. That’s why the president appointed him to this commission. Musk and Vivek are doing exactly what the president wants.”

Musk fired back on X, calling for Republicans who supported the first CR to be ousted in 2026.

The revised 116-page CR still failed Thursday night. Thirty-eight House Republicans opposed it, citing concerns over debt increases and $110 billion in disaster aid.
