News has spread about the death of O.J. Simpson, a former football star and actor. The story, however, took an unexpected turn due to an error in the LA Times' obituary.
The LA Times mistakenly reported that Donald Trump was the person released from Lovelock Correctional Facility in 2017, not Simpson. This incorrect information was quickly corrected after being caught by vigilant readers.
Dan Berger highlighted the mistake on Twitter, pointing out the oddity of the error. "LA Times with quite the typo in its obituary for OJ Simpson," he tweeted.
Social media users reacted swiftly, with comments about Trump being persistently on the media's mind. One user joked about the error, saying, "No freaking way!! LOL. He’s always on their minds."
Another simply commented, "TDS is real," referencing the phenomenon known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In the early 1990s, Trump and Simpson were acquainted. Simpson even attended Trump's wedding to Marla Maples in 1993, as reported by Inside Edition.
Their relationship cooled after Simpson's notorious trial. Trump later expressed his views to Howard Stern in 2008, stating, "I realized [Simpson] killed his wife. I don’t like people that kill their wives," as per CNN.
Simpson passed away from prostate cancer, his family announced on Twitter. His trial remains one of the most famous and contentious in U.S. history, often called "The Trial of the Century."
In 1995, Simpson was acquitted of murder charges. However, a civil court subsequently found him liable for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to the victims' families.
