Major Frozen Meal Company Faces Recall After 'Wood-like Material' Detected

Nestlé USA is recalling four frozen meals. The issue? Possible contamination with "wood-like material," the company announced Monday.

The recall includes three Lean Cuisine meals and one Stouffer’s product. Nestlé initiated it voluntarily.

The affected meals are Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, and Stouffer's Party Size Chicken Lasagna. They were produced between August 2024 and March 2025.

"We are taking this action after consumers contacted Nestlé USA about this issue, including one potential choking incident to date," the company said. Nestlé is based in Virginia.

The recalled meals were sold at major retailers between September 2024 and March 2025. Customers across the U.S. may have purchased them.

Five batches of Butternut Squash Ravioli and Spinach Artichoke Ravioli are affected. One batch of Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry and four batches of Chicken Lasagna are also included.

Certain batches of these ravioli meals are affected. Nestlé USA confirmed the recall.

Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna (96-ounce):

Nestlé advises customers not to eat these products. They should return them for a refund or replacement.

When asked for more details, a Nestlé spokesperson pointed to the company’s news release. No further comments were given.

"We are actively investigating the source of the wood-like material," Nestlé USA stated. "We are confident that this is an isolated issue, and we have taken action to address it."

The company is working with the FDA and USDA. Nestlé pledged full cooperation with regulators.

No other Lean Cuisine or Stouffer’s products are affected. The recall is limited to these specific batches.

"Our top priority is the quality, safety, and integrity of our products," Nestlé USA said. "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers."
