On Tuesday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti threatened businesses who aren't deemed as "essential" to turn off their water and electric if they didn't close up shop amid the coronavirus crisis.
That sounds pretty fascist if you ask me. What happened to this being the land of the free...
While giving his daily briefing, KTLA 5 reports that Garcetti announced a a “business ambassadors program” in an effort to force nonessential businesses to close their doors.
“This behavior is irresponsible and selfish,” he said, regarding businesses still open.

He said the Department of Water and Power will shut off services for the businesses that don’t comply with the “safer at home” ordinance.
Neighborhood prosecutors will implement safety measures and will contact the businesses before issuing further action, according to Garcetti.
“The easiest way to avoid a visit is to follow the rules,” he continued.
Though the streets of the city have largely been deserted, some people have been going to work. Some retail stores remain open; construction continues on unfinished homes; and gardeners continue to tend to yards and lawns.
Last week, Garcetti announced that several thousand homeless people would be moved into recreation centers in residential areas to help protect the homeless from coronavirus — though some have worried they will be more likely to contract the illness indoors, where “social distancing” is difficult despite six-foot separations between beds.
Garcetti has also “impressed” city employees to work at the shelters and elsewhere as “Disaster Service Workers.”

During a city government meeting in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, things went haywire as one of the commissioners got angry and called out another commissioner for not following the rules of the committee as well as yelling at the mayor for letting the power be cut off to individuals right now who are hurting over the coronavirus outbreak.
"Are you telling me that you're going to keep me from talking right now?" asked commissioner Omari Hardy who was very upset about the way things were going.
