McConnell: Pelosi is ‘Too Afraid’ to Send Articles of Impeachment to Senate

Shots have been fired, folks!

In case you have not heard, the House voted to impeach President Donald Trump on Wednesday evening. Now that the vote has passed, it goes to Senate for a trial. There, Trump will either be pronounced guilty or he will be acquitted.

Now, to remove Trump from office, there would need to be a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate. However, the Senate is controlled by Republicans and Mitch McConnell has already made it clear that the trial will die quicker than a Clinton informant!

He stated that the House impeachment is “unfair” and added that “moments like this are why the United States Senate exists.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knows that it will be a quick and FAIR trial, which is exactly what the Democrats do not want. So she has stated that they may delay sending the articles of impeachment over to the Senate. Thus, dragging out the process and giving them more of a chance to come up with more lies.

“We cannot name managers until we see what the process is on the Senate side,” Pelosi said. “And I would hope that that will be soon. … So far we haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us. So hopefully it will be fair. And when we see what that is, we’ll send our managers.”

McConnell realizes that’s exactly what Pelosi is doing, and accused her of being too afraid to send “their shoddy work product to the Senate,” adding that Trump’s impeachment is “the most rushed, least thorough, and most unfair impeachment inquiry in modern history.”

Breitbart reports:

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham blasted Pelosi’s move that would potentially delay the Senate trial, where she said Trump was sure to get a “fair shake” compared to the House.

In an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Grisham said Pelosi’s announcement was “Just another gimmick and more changing of the rules.”

“The framers built the Senate to provide stability,” McConnell continued, “To keep partisan passions from boiling over. Moments like this are why the United States Senate exists.”

The House impeached Trump on two charges—abusing his power and obstructing Congress—stemming from his pressure on Ukraine to announce investigations of his political rival as he withheld U.S. aid.

In a news conference late Wednesday, Pelosi declined to say when she would send the articles to the Republican-led Senate. Until the articles are submitted, the Senate cannot hold the trial.

President Trump is unfazed by the whole ordeal, because he knows he is innocent and trusts the Senate to carry out a fair trial. Thursday morning, he lashed out at Pelosi and the Democrats on Twitter:

“Now the Do Nothing Party want to Do Nothing with the Articles & not deliver them to the Senate,” Trump wrote, “Pelosi feels her phony impeachment HOAX is so pathetic she is afraid to present it to the Senate, which can set a date and put this whole SCAM into default if they refuse to show up! The Do Nothings are so bad for our Country!”
