McDonald's posted a new 'meal hack' to their Instagram, and it's McGenius! The fast-food chain's viral post shows a four step guide, with arrows, on how to eat a meal from the restaurant with only one hand.
They posted to Instagram the following diagram, with the caption, "Fancy a one-handed meal? Simply unfold your burger box to make a fries tray, then perch it on your soft drink. Easy as. #dailynuggets #mealhack#mealonthego #maccas #imlovinit"
The brand’s self-proclaimed “meal hack” involves first procuring a drink, fries and one of the various hamburgers the fast-food chain sells that comes in a box. Then, the customer is asked to precariously balance said box open on top of the drink. The third step involves pouring the full box of fries into the empty side of the open box. And finally, the fourth step asks you to apparently sit back and admire your work.
The diagram does not explain where one would place a sauce packet for dipping purposes. It also does not mention that the one-handed meal hack still involves both hands — one to hold the beverage, and one to eat the food.
Who cares though? When I looked at the diagram, all I was saw was a perfect opportunity! As a single mother, I have learned to do many things with one hand and little space. Think of the possibilities of having your food and drink all in one get-up! You could literally carry it with ease at little league games, arts and crafts festivals, or any other outing where you are out and about and don't have a cup holder or table.
[I]t does only work if you have a sturdy straw — an instrument the chain has been working toward eliminating and replacing with paper straws that many have referred to as “soggy.”
With or without the controversial straw, Instagram does not seem to be lovin’ the “meal on the go” option.
“Imagine being this lazy,” one person wrote.
“Putting hot food on top of a cold drink ain’t a good idea lmao,” another wrote.
“Not much help if you get a cheeseburger wrapped in paper,” one person pointed out.
Sounds to me like they are just salty that they didn't think of it first. And if they don't like it, then they don't have to do it! However, there are many of us (like me!) who will totally try it out the next time I get some Micky D's.
