Remember when you were a kid, begging your parents to take you to McDonald’s for the latest Happy Meal toy?
Now, you can buy your own meal. McDonald’s wants you to visit next week for their latest: collector’s edition cups. The six cups feature franchises like Barbie, Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, Hello Kitty, Peanuts, Shrek, Jurassic Park, Minions, and McDonald’s itself.
McDonald’s announced on Wednesday what some call an adult Happy Meal. Officially named the “Collector’s Meal,” it’s available worldwide on Aug. 13.
"McDonald’s collectibles are as iconic as they come," says a press release. "From toys to vintage posters, plates, merch, games, and trading cards, these keepsakes are more than just collector’s items – they unlock some of our fans’ favorite McDonald’s memories."
The Collector’s Meal is available all day. Choose a sausage McMuffin with egg sandwich, hash brown, and coffee during breakfast. For lunch and dinner, pick between 10-piece chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac with fries and a soft drink.
The cups are available for a limited time. McDonald’s hasn’t said when sales will end.
This move comes as restaurants try to lure customers back with value meals. Consumers are pinching pennies due to inflation.
McDonald’s is hosting two events for collectors to "link up." One in Los Angeles and one in New York City.
"There’s an undeniable thrill when you snag that one elusive McDonald’s collectible," says the Global Chief Marketing Officer. "We’re bringing back some of our most-loved keepsakes with a twist. Fans can hold a memory in their hands."
