White House aides contacted South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem about the process of adding additional presidents to Mount Rushmore, per a report from CNN.
According to a 2018 interview with Noem, President Trump brought up that it is his dream to be on Mount Rushmore.

President Trump spoke on the 4th of July at Mount Rushmore and assured it will "stand forever as an eternal tribute to our forefathers, and to our freedom."
