House Impeachment Manager (eyeroll) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler appeared on MSNBC’s Tuesday broadcast of ”The Beat.” During his appearance, he spoke of wanting to call former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly as a witness to the Senate impeachment trial.
This came after Kelly implied that he has information on what former National Security Adviser John Bolton will testify to.
Nadler declared that Democrats want to call Bolton (duh), White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, as well as “some of the other witnesses who we have heard had firsthand information. … And maybe, now, John Kelly.”
Host Ari Melber inquired, “John Kelly, you would want to call, given his remarks about Bolton’s veracity?”
“Yes.” Nadler replied, “That would seem to indicate that he has knowledge of what Bolton’s testifying to.”
The Hill reports:
A book manuscript by Bolton reportedly claims Trump personally told him last August that he wanted to continue to withhold military assistance to Ukraine until the country helped with investigations into former Vice President Joe Bidenand other Democrats.
At an event in Sarasota, Fla., on Monday, Kelly threw his support behind Bolton.
“If John Bolton says that in the book, I believe John Bolton,” Kelly declared at the event, “Every single time I was with him … he always gave the president the unvarnished truth.”
The Senate is expected to vote this week on the pivotal issue of whether new witnesses and documentary evidence will be admitted at Trump’s Senate trial.
Nadler told Melber later in the interview that he has not spoken to the other impeachment managers or Senators about calling Kelly to the stand.
