If you have been paying attention, then you know that churches were among the first things targeted by the government during the coronavirus pandemic, along with every other right in our First Amendment.
Thousands of churches remain unconstitutionally shut down, which has led HIS Church senior pastor Brian Gibson to give a rally cry to churches across the country. He called for them to to be "lions" and “stand up and roar” for religious freedom this Sunday, May 17th.
The nondenominational pastor started an online petition on Monday called, “Peaceably Gather,” and is calling for other congregations to join in.
“People in churches, mosques, and synagogues have been told that, regardless of any social distancing or protective practices they implement, they cannot gather, with threats of retribution from local governments if they don’t keep their doors closed,” Gibson.
The Blaze goes on to report:
Gibson went on to call it “not just ironic” but “a deliberate slap in the face to religious freedom” that places such as grocery stores could have hundreds of people inside their building at any one time, “but places of worship and people of faith can’t be trusted to implement the same safety procedures in their own buildings.”
Gibson added that the Peaceably Gather initiative comes in response to state and local officials and law enforcement across the country that have targeted places worship during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gibson stated that “Jesus is a lamb, but he’s also a lion” and called for the “lions and stand up and roar” for religious liberty and freedom. He is completely right. Jesus is the lion AND the lamb. He is gentle but also flips the temple tables when it needs done. Make no mistake, Christians are called to be the peacemakers but we also won't stand for injustice. God will not stand for injustice. Just ask Pharaoh.
