Paul Ryan Turns his Back on Trump - Cancels Plans to Campaign With Him

Speaker Paul Ryan is no taking kindly to Trump's remarks made in 2005. Paul Ryan turns his back on Trump, cancels plans to campaign with him. Ryan is not the only person with this reaction. Many Republicans are taking the steps necessary to distance themselves from Trump. All of this over a video from 2005 where Trump made some lewd comments.Paul Ryan Turns his Back on Trump

The two were set to meet Saturday in Ryan's native state of Wisconsin. After the video of Trump was released, Ryan cancelled those plans. The two did not actually speak to each other throughout this.

Here is what Paul Ryan had to say about the video:

“I am sickened by what I heard today. Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified. I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests.”

Donald Trump returned with a video apologizing for the remarks he made in private in 2005.

It remains to be seen what type of long term affects these remarks will have on the Trump campaign. There have been other Republicans who have distanced themselves from Mr. Trump, including Utah's Republican Governor Gary Herbert and Rep Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah). Both rescinded previous endorsements of Trump. While this does not look good for Trump, he has recovered from other questionable statements before.
