A contentious argument ensued between Piers Morgan and a transgender rights activist who asserted that International Women's Day should be more accepting and accommodating towards transgender women.
On TalkTV, a UK-based news channel owned by Rupert Murdoch of Fox News, Piers Morgan engaged in a heated discussion with television commentator Angelica Malin regarding the inclusivity of International Women's Day (IWD). Morgan advocated for the participation of transgender women in IWD celebrations and maintained that one's self-identification should not be questioned or scrutinized. He also questioned whether IWD should be put on hold until there is a shared understanding of what constitutes a woman among progressives.
“Why can’t I identify as a black lesbian?” Morgan questioned Malin.
“If I can identify as anything, without any need to prove what that is, why can’t I on International Women’s Day say ‘I’m Piers Morgan, and I’m a black lesbian?” Morgan continued.
Malin appeared taken aback by Morgan's inquiry and dismissed it as "absurd."

“I mean, this point kind of ridicules trans people,” Malin continued.
Morgan clarified that he has "respect" for transgender individuals who have genuinely struggled with their gender identity and undergone gender-affirming surgery. However, he asserted that there is no way for them to truly change their biological sex.
He further stated that he did not respect those who identify as a woman on a whim and seek to participate in women's sports or violate women's rights. Morgan expressed his concern over average male athletes transitioning and gaining an unfair advantage in women's sports, stating that it is unfair for them to suddenly "crush women."
Piers Morgan has been involved in heated discussions surrounding transgender issues in the past.
During one of his TalkTV shows in May 2022, Piers Morgan was verbally attacked by a transgender activist who called him a "c-word." The exchange became heated when Morgan expressed his concern about transgender women participating in women's sports, despite his support for the transgender community.
