President Trump Celebrates CBS Ending Colbert's Show, Predicts Who's Next

President Donald Trump celebrated on Friday after learning that CBS will cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2026.

CBS confirmed Thursday that the show will air its final episode in May of next year. Colbert has hosted it since 2015, taking over from David Letterman.

Trump wasted no time reacting. “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” he wrote on Truth Social. “His talent was even less than his ratings.”

Trump also took shots at other late-night hosts. “I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined,” he added, also slamming NBC’s host as a “Moron” who “ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Colbert has been a frequent Trump critic. He mocked Trump’s speeches, supporters, and policies throughout his run. Trump, in turn, has called Colbert “very boring” and “a total loser.”

Just days before the announcement, Colbert slammed CBS parent company Paramount for settling with Trump over a 60 Minutes interview. The $16 million payout was tied to a segment Colbert called a “big fat bribe.”

One of Colbert’s most ridiculed moments came in 2021, when he performed a skit called the “Vax-Scene,” dancing on stage with people dressed as syringes.

Colbert confirmed the news Thursday night: “Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending The Late Show in May. I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away.”
