During the 2016 election, Donald Trump gave every opponent a nickname they were unable to shake. The 2020 election is coming up and the nicknames are continuing to flow. President Trump has already labeled his three potential primary challengers "Three Stooges."
Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) and former Governor Bill Weld (R-MA) have already declared their intention to run. Former Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) has said he is considering one.
Trump took to Twitter for an epic response to the trio:
Can you believe it? I’m at 94% approval in the Republican Party, and have Three Stooges running against me. One is “Mr. Appalachian Trail” who was actually in Argentina for bad reasons....
....Another is a one-time BAD Congressman from Illinois who lost in his second term by a landslide, then failed in radio. The third is a man who couldn’t stand up straight while receiving an award. I should be able to take them!

These three guys have literally no chance to unseat President Trump on the 2020 ticket. It's unclear where he pulled his 94% approval rating in the Republican Party, but it is high enough to where it would take a miracle for him to be unseated. Gallup surveys have him close to 90 percent. And he is getting the financial backing from the RNC.
Each candidate brings some low hanging fruit for President Trump. Sanford lost his reelection bid for the house last year after President Trump backed his primary opponent.
On top of that, Sanford had an extramarital affair in 2009 while he was the Governor of South Carolina and was busted in a lie and caught visiting his mistress when he claimed to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Remember this; not a chance against @realDonaldTrump

Walsh is already feeling the effects of trying to take on President Trump. When he launched his bid for the primary he lost his radio show.

Weld ran on the Libertarian Party ticket in 2016 and has gained zero traction. The 74-year-old has polled in the single digits and has no chance of winning.
