Sanders Blames Trump for 'Housing Crisis,' Proposes $2.5 Trillion Plan

Senator Bernie Sanders is rolling out his newest socialist plan to provide "housing for all," which is estimated to cost about $2.5 trillion. His plan to pay for this housing? Oh, that's easy. He just wants to create a wealth tax on the top one-tenth of one percent of income earners.....Because people who have worked hard to build their wealth should be responsible for housing everyone in the country, right? Bogus.

The 2020 presidential hopeful said, that his plan would “guarantee every American — regardless of income — a fundamental right to a safe, decent, accessible, and affordable home."

“There is virtually no place in America where a full-time minimum wage worker can afford a decent two bedroom apartment. At a time when half of our people are living paycheck to paycheck, this is unacceptable,” he continued, “For too long the federal government has ignored the extraordinary housing crisis in our country. That will end when I am president.”

Here's my problem with that: for one, it is not anyone else's responsibility to take care of me and my family. Minimum wage jobs are worked by people with minimum skills. That is usually kids in high school or college, or perhaps even someone who needs some extra money on the side. Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be lifelong careers.

The Hill reports:

Sanders’s plan seeks to invest $1.48 trillion over 10 years in the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund to build and maintain 7.4 million “quality, affordable and accessible housing units” that he says will eliminate the gap in affordable housing for the lowest-income renters. It would also invest another $400 billion to build 2 million mixed-income social housing units.

He also intends to use the plan to end homelessness by prioritizing 25,000 National Affordable Housing Trust Fund units to house the homeless in his first year in office and provide $500 million to state and local governments to help connect the homeless to case management and social services.

The democratic socialist lambasted “corrupt real estate developers” for jacking up rent prices and President Trump for cutting federal housing programs. He says he would create an office within the Department of Housing and Urban Development to strengthen rent control and tenant protections and make data on evictions and rent increases available to the public.

Sanders also tried to blame the "housing crisis" on president Trump. He said, "We have an affordable housing crisis and Trump is making it much worse. That is why today we are proposing the most progressive housing plan in history. Safe, decent, affordable housing should not be a privilege. It should be a right. #HousingForAll"

Bernie Sanders is a socialist and a fraud. If he thinks his ideals are so great, perhaps he should move to Venezuela. I guarantee he would be begging for a seat on the next plane back to America. Work hard for what you want and you will get it. Don't look for others to pave the way for you.
