Some Interesting Details on the Elijah Cummings Burglary

Elijah Cummings Burglary

The police report of the burglary of the home of Congressman Elijah Cummings had some interesting details regarding what went down that night.

For some reason when the burglar broke into the house, the Cummings did  not contact the police immediately. Instead, they took action. It wasn't until hours later that the congressman's wife, Maya Rockeymoore, contacted the police.

At 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, their cell phone alerted them there was an intruder into their home. Their first door, which is near the street, was unlocked, but somehow they were able to get through a second locked, armed door, according to the police report.

Once Cummings was alerted of the person breaking in, Cummings, "confronted the suspect and yelled" according to the police report, which was obtained by Balitmore Patch.

"I scared the person away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house," Cummings said in a statement given to Fox 45.

The wife went downstairs and saw the man in the foyer with a dark-colored bicycle and was able to take cell phone pictures of him before he took off through the front door and disappeared.

The suspect was described as a black man around 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 9 and around 170 pounds. He was wearing a black fitted hat with an upside down "U" shape on it with khaki shorts and a dark short-sleeved shirt with dark tennis shoes and white ankle socks.

Since there was already damage done to the door by the fire department in a previous incident, police were unable to figure out if the door was broken into.

The time stamps on the police report said 8:52 a.m. While they did not call 911, they did contact a police sergeant hours later.

Why wouldn't Cummings contact the law immediately if he was the victim of a burglary? Not to be a weirdo conspiracy theorist, because that's not what we're about, but it appears there could be something missing.
