Stephen King: 'Trans Women are Women'

Earlier this month, Harry Potter author J.K Rowling came out in support of science and facts. She stated that while she supports transgender people, that does not change the fact that there are only two genders.

This week, Stephen King posted on Twitter to rebuke Rowling, stating that "trans women are women."

It all started on June 6, when Rowling tweeted, "If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth."

She added, "The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women - ie, to male violence - ‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived."

Shortly after, King re-tweeting a post by Rowling that quoted feminist Andrea Dworkin saying that “it isn’t hateful for women to speak about their own experiences, nor do they deserve shaming for doing so.”

The IT author then became the target of social justice warriors when Rowling thanked King for his support.

“I’ve always revered @StephenKing, but today my love reached — maybe not Annie Wilkes levels — but new heights,” she said in a since-deleted tweet. “It’s so much easier for men to ignore women’s concerns, or to belittle them, but I won’t ever forget the men who stood up when they didn’t need to. Thank you, Stephen.”

King then faced instant backlash for supporting a "TERF," which is a term used to describe “trans exclusionary radical feminists.”

King responded to a follower questioning where he stands, in which he responded, "Yes. Trans women are women."
