Tom Brady Gets Slammed for Having Interesting Take on Janet Jackson's 'Wardrobe Malfunction'

Tom Brady

Following his comment that the infamous "wardrobe malfunction" incident during Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's 2004 Super Bowl halftime show was beneficial for the NFL, Tom Brady faced criticism on Twitter.

In a recent episode of the "Let's Go" podcast featuring Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray, the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback referenced the controversy surrounding Janet Jackson's performance with Justin Timberlake during Super Bowl XXXVIII, specifically alluding to the wardrobe malfunction incident that exposed her breast. The discussion occurred while they were talking about Rihanna's halftime show at Super Bowl LVII.

As a participant in the world's largest sporting event, Brady noted that he never had the chance to watch any Super Bowl halftime shows as he was busy preparing for the game's second half. During the 2004 Super Bowl, in which his team, the New England Patriots, triumphed over the Carolina Panthers 32-29, Brady was questioned about the incident involving Jackson after the game.

“We came off the field and that was when we had the wardrobe malfunction with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson and they [reporters] were asking me about that, and I couldn’t understand what they were telling me about,” Brady shared.

“They’re like, ‘Did you see the halftime show? Blah, blah, blah,’ and I’m like, ‘Nah, I didn’t see anything. I was thinking about the game and was trying to figure out halftime adjustments,'” Brady added. “It took a while for us to figure out what had gone on. That’s for the fans and not for the players.”

“I think, in the end, it was probably a good thing for the NFL because everyone got to talk about it, and it was just more publicity and more publicity for halftime shows. Is any publicity bad publicity? That’s what they say, so who knows.”

After the podcast was released, Brady was ripped for being "shallow" according to a report from Fox News.
