Trump Announces Peace Agreement Between Two Nuclear-Armed Nations

President Donald Trump announced Saturday that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following U.S.-brokered talks.

In a Truth Social post, Trump celebrated the breakthrough, writing, “Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”

The ceasefire comes after heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors raised international concern. Trump said the agreement followed a "long night of talks" mediated by the United States.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that he and Vice President JD Vance had been actively engaged in diplomacy over the past two days. Rubio said they held discussions with senior officials from both countries, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as top military and intelligence leaders.

“I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site,” Rubio said. He praised both leaders for their “wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

The details of the agreement, including the location of the upcoming talks and the scope of issues to be discussed, have not yet been disclosed.
