Trump Curse: Rapinoe Misses Game Against England, USA Still Wins

USWNT Soccer star Megan Rapinoe has not held back when it comes to how she feels about President Trump. Is she the latest article to be hit by the Trump curse?

Just last week when asked about going to the White House, Rapinoe responded, “I’m not going to the fucking White House. No. Not going to the White House. We’re not going to be invited. I doubt it."

President Trump responded with a series of tweets. He actually invited her and the team to the White House, despite her remarks:

On Tuesday the US Women's soccer team took on England in the semifinals of the World Cup. After starring in the previous match, Rapinoe was held out of the match against England. The head coach said this was not for disciplinary reasons, but she did not elaborate on why Rapinoe isn't playing. Perhaps head coach Jill Ellis didn't want to reveal what kind of injury Rapinoe has.

Rapinoe had two goals when the US advanced past France to the semifinals. It seemed that a team without her would struggle against England. That turned out to be not the case as the women advanced to the final.

It's still up in the air on whether or not Rapinoe will play in the final against the winner of the Netherlands and Sweden. Is this the latest example of the Trump Curse? It sure seems like it.

USA will be in the championship at 11:00 a.m. EST on Sunday on FOX. Time will tell if Rapinoe will be on the field.
