Trump to Become First President to Attend March for Life

President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at the 47th annual March for Life on Friday. This will make him the first sitting president to ever attend the march in person.

According to Life News, March for Life officials said that they are ecstatic that Trump will be showing his support for the unborn by appearing at the march, which is expected to have at least half a million Americans in attendance.

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said, “We are deeply honored to welcome President Trump to the 47th annual March for Life. He will be the first president in history to attend and we are so excited for him to experience in person how passionate our marchers are about life and protecting the unborn.”

“From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and abroad, to calling for an end to late-term abortions," she continued, "President Trump and his Administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering. We are grateful for all these pro-life accomplishments and look forward to gaining more victories for life in the future."

Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and George W. Bush all addressed the March for Life as well with pro-life remarks. Their remarks were typically pre-taped or they were aired via a live phone call to March for Life participants.

Last year, Trump told thousands of pro-life advocates at the March for Life that he plans to veto any bill that would promote abortion.

“Today I have signed a letter to Congress to make clear that if they send any legislation to my desk that weakens the protection of human life, I will issue a veto,” the president said,“And we have the support to uphold those vetos.”

“We know that every life has meaning and that every life is worth protecting, as president I will always defend the first right in our Declaration of Independence, the right to life,” he added, “As president, I will always defend the first right in our Declaration of Independence, the right to life."

The president of the upcoming March for Life was effusive in her praise for President Donald Trump in a recent interview, saying he has “done more for the pro-life movement than any president.”

In one of his first acts as president, Trump reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, which prohibits taxpayer funding to groups that promote or provide abortions overseas. The change defunded Planned Parenthood’s international arm of about $100 million in U.S. tax dollars.
