Trump: 'We Aren't Closing the Country' if Second Coronavirus Wave Hits

Thank goodness we have a president with a brain. I can't say the same for our former president.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump visited a Michigan Ford factory that is manufacturing ventilators. He declared during his tour that if the United States is hit with a second wave of coronavirus, he will not close the country again.

“We are going to put out the fires. We’re not going to close the country,” Trump said. “We can put out the fires. Whether it is an ember or a flame, we are going to put it out. But we are not closing our country.”.

“We did the right thing, but now it is time to open it up,” he continued. “A never-ending lockdown would invite a public health calamity. To protect the health of our people, we must have a functioning economy.”

I agree! We need to open up. We truly cannot afford to keep businesses closed. Many people and businesses will not be able to recover from this disaster of an economy hit.

Trump said earlier on Thursday that some states, run by Democrat governors, simply aren't reopening fast enough.

“You have a lot of, unfortunately in this case, Democrat governors, I think they think it’s great politics to keep it closed, but what are they doing, they’re hurting themselves, I don’t think it is good politics … they’re hurting themselves, they’re hurting their state, and it’s not good,” Trump added, “You’ll break the country if you don’t.”
