A police officer from Prince George's County, Maryland, faced suspension due to a viral video that seemingly captured him sharing a kiss with a lady before they proceeded to the rear of his patrol vehicle.
"PGPD Executive Command is aware of a video circulating on social media with one of our officers. As soon as we became aware earlier today, we initiated a probe into the situation," said the Prince George’s County Police Department on their Facebook page Tuesday.
The aforementioned Facebook entry has been modified to notify the community that "the officer has been identified. His policing abilities are currently on hold while the investigation is ongoing."
The clip displaying the officer being affectionate with the female was captured on Sunday, as reported by the Baltimore Banner. By Wednesday morning, it had garnered millions of views. Law enforcement insiders named PGPD Officer Francesco Marlett as the officer featured in the video when speaking to local media.
The footage depicts the officer, dressed in his official uniform, embracing a woman with a kiss and encircling her waist with his arm before both enter the rear of a clearly marked police car.
Nelson O, the person who captured this now-viral moment, told the Baltimore Banner that this event took place around 7 p.m. on Sunday at Carson Park in the Oxon Hill locality. He shared with the news outlet that he was enjoying a soccer game with his child and other relatives when he observed the officer's behavior, which he perceived as "suspicious."
Upon noticing a young lady, whom he estimated to be in her mid-twenties, nearing the officer, he felt compelled to start recording, expressing that "something didn’t seem right."
According to the Baltimore Banner, the duo spent approximately 40 minutes in the back of the police car before they eventually departed in distinct vehicles.

On Wednesday, a woman alleging to be Marlett's spouse shared a message on Facebook, expressing her sorrow over the "embarrassing and painful" scenario.

According to the Baltimore Banner, Marlett faced a suspension back in 2015 and was subsequently indicted by a grand jury in the next year for child abuse and assault. It was alleged that he spanked his girlfriend's 3-year-old, leading the child to purportedly strike his head against a wall and become unconscious. However, Fox 5 stated that these charges were later dismissed.
Earlier this year, in May, Marlett encountered another suspension following allegations of domestic abuse, as reported by Fox 5.
