Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has her foot in her mouth again. Usually it is over one of her socialist, birdbrain ideas. However, this time people are raising their eyebrows at her comparison of paid family leave and breeding dogs.
AOC took to Twitter, as well as Tuesday’s congressional hearings, to talk about how dogs are given more time with their litter of puppies than parents are allowed with their newborn babies.
Radio host Jason Rantz tweeted a highlighted clip of AOC talking during the House Oversight Committee hearing with the comment, “Thinking she’s being clever at a House Oversight Committee, AOC makes a bizarre comparison between dog breeding and raising children, appears to suggest that dogs are given rights to raise their puppies for a certain length of time. Uhmm…?”
If you watch the clip, you can hear Ocasio-Cortez say, “Um, do we know how long puppies are allowed to stay with their mothers after a dog has given birth?”
“Uh, eight weeks,” the former bartender continued, “So, the market has decided that women and people who give birth deserve less time with their children than a dog and I think that that at its core has shown that the market has failed to treat people with dignity and with basic respect.”

“And so when that happens, I think it’s our job as the public to redefine the rules of society and to peep, and to treat people who give birth with the dignity that they deserve,” Ocasio-Cortez concluded.
It’s fine, guys. She wore glasses and waved around a pencil so she must know what she’s talking about!
Don’t get me wrong, I think most people can see the point she was attempting to make. However, her comparison was rough to say the least and was lacking a lot of information.
Better luck next time Ocasio-Cortez! You’re going to need it.
