WATCH: Beto O'Rourke Threatens to Remove Tax-Exempt Status of Churches Who Don't Support Gay Marriage

The Democratic Party continues to push further and further left. Now Beto O'Rourke threatens to remove the tax-exempt status from churches who don't support gay marriage.

Don Lemon asked the former Texas congressman if religious institutions should be stripped of tax-exempt status on Thursday night. He instantly responded, "Yes."

Before O'Rourke even explained, the crowd erupted into applause.

Beto O'Rourke Threatens to Pull Tax-Exempt Status from Religious Institutions

"There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution, any organization in America, that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us," O'Rourke said. "So as president, we're going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans."

In Beto's "Plan to Pursue Equality for LGBTQ+ People and Ensure They Can Live Openly Without Fear of Discrimination or Violence,"  he states that he wants to reverse the Trump administrations "attempt to expand religious exemptions in order to enable discrimination or harm others."

"Freedom of religion is a fundamental right, but it should not be used to discriminate," Beto added.

CNN political commentator tweeted, "This isn't going to help win the electoral college. If you wonder why so many Christians are willing to hold their nose and support someone as horrible as Donald Trump, this helps explain it."

Despite the picture the left likes to paint of President Trump, he launched a global effort to decriminalize homosexuality.
