West Freeway Pastor: ‘I’m Glad We had the Right to Protect Ourselves’

Ever heard the saying, “Don’t mess with Texas”? Well, there’s a reason that’s a commonly known quote.

When a man began shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ just as worshippers finished communion, armed congregation members stormed the lunatic. Two people were killed before they put him down, but there could have been many more if not for those who were practicing their second amendment right by carrying.

Now the church’s senior minister, Britt Farmer, is responding to the fatal shooting. He said that he is thankful that his congregants had the right to defend themselves which saved many lives that day.

He thanked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as well as law enforcement for responding so quickly to the incident before adding, “We lost two great men today, but it could have been a lot worse. I’m thankful our government has allowed us the opportunity to protect ourselves.”

Daily Caller reports:

The shooting, which reportedly took place as worshippers were finishing communion, was initially captured on a live stream that was quickly taken down. Two church members were killed before several armed congregants charged the shooter, and reports indicate that at least two of the church members were responsible for firing the shots that killed the shooter.

Texas DPS Director Jeoff Williams believes that the armed church goers who stormed the man actually saved everyone else in attendance. He said, “The citizens who were inside that church undoubtedly saved 242 other parishioners, and that might get swept aside,” he said. “It was miraculous. The true heroes in all this are the people who were sitting in those pews today and responded, the immediate responders … it was truly heroic.”

Fox News reporter Katie Pavlich said pretty much the same thing as Williams. She noted just how quickly the shooter was stopped in his tracks, which no doubly saved many lives.

So the next time someone asks you why you need a gun, just remind them of this incident. Good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns.
