White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has not shied away from making ridiculous claims to back the Biden administration, but this one is bad, even for her.
On Tuesday Jean-Pierre absurdly claimed that disposable income is up and gas prices are down.
“We have seen some important progress for the American people. A couple of things that I will lay out: We’ve seen real disposable income and real consumer spending both increase in part thanks to the strength of our job market, gas prices are down over $1 per gallon since their peak this summer,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.
Gas prices did drop a little, but only because the Biden administration depleted the US’s strategic petroleum reserve. And let's not lose track of the fact that it's still much higher than when Biden took office.
And after gas prices did drop they are now starting to go back up in many states.
With the country facing record-breaking inflation, disposable income is certainly not up.
No one takes her seriously at this point.
