Whoopi Goldberg Sends a Strong Message to Haters of 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg isn't backing down from critics of The View.

On Thursday, March 13, Goldberg addressed haters calling for the show's cancellation. The backlash largely stems from the political views expressed by the cohosts.

The 69-year-old star spoke up after a debate about Gavin Newsom’s recent podcast with Steve Bannon. While her cohosts analyzed Newsom’s actions, Goldberg took aim at the show's critics.

"People always say, 'You should take The View off television.' You know why? Because we give you an opportunity. We don't tell you what to think," the Sister Act star said.

"We say, 'This is what I think!' You know, Alyssa will say, 'This is what I think.' Joy says, 'This is what I think.' ... And when we do that, that is how you have the dialog," Goldberg explained, referencing Alyssa Farrah Griffin and Joy Behar.

Goldberg pushed back on the idea that the hosts represent only one opinion. "We always say that because we have those conversations," she said. "We don't tell you what to think. We say, 'This is what I think!'"

She also criticized the personal attacks aimed at her cohosts. "But it becomes an awful thing when people become personal about you or your family," she continued. "See, that's the difference. We don't do that here. Other people do it to us and would like to think that that's what we're doing to them, but we're not..."

This isn't the first time Goldberg has spoken out against detractors. On the March 4 episode, during a discussion on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, she challenged the criticism head-on.

She declared the show's resilience, stating, "We are not our great-grandparents. We are not our grandparents. We are of 2025. We are not the women that were in the 1950s. This is 2025, and we're not going anywhere."

Goldberg concluded boldly, "You can call us any number of letters you want to. You will wake up, and we're still here."
