70-Year-Old Man Has Eaten anAstonishing Number of Big Macs: 'People thought I'd be dead by now'

A US man has hit a new record for the most McDonald's Big Macs eaten, surpassing 34,000. Don Gorske, 70, has been increasing his count since 1999, adding 728 Big Macs in 2023 alone.

Gorske once ate nine Big Macs a day. Now, he's down to two, skipping fries and walking six miles for his health. "Many people thought I'd be dead by now," he said, celebrating his 24th year as a record holder.

Despite over 50 years of Big Mac meals, Gorske still enjoys each one. Observers say he eats with the enthusiasm of a first-timer. He started his Big Mac journey in 1972, knowing instantly he'd stick with them for life.

Gorske has saved every receipt and container. His unique diet led to both mockery and support at the prison where he worked. Fellow guards would even sneak Big Macs to him during double shifts.

Now retired, Gorske buys Big Macs in batches twice a week. He enjoys one fresh and microwaves the others as needed. Aside from Big Macs, he occasionally snacks on ice cream, fruit bars, or chips.

A Big Mac contains 590 calories. Nutrition experts caution against a fast-food-heavy diet, linking it to chronic health issues. The film "Super Size Me" highlighted the dangers of such a diet through Morgan Spurlock's month-long McDonald's binge.
