New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a remark about Dr. Anthony Fauci on Tuesday while discussing the expected duration of his football injury recovery, especially given the talk that he might be healing faster than anticipated.
On his regular segment on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers was questioned about clips that displayed him making some throws without the support of crutches, following his Achilles tendon rupture during the season's opening match.
Rodgers mentioned he opted for “a newer, innovative” procedure to recover quicker than many with a comparable injury.
When co-host AJ Hawk observed that Rodgers tends to do things “his own way,” McAfee commented, “This guy does things his own way. He actually defies science.”
Rodgers responded, “If science is Dr. Fauci, you’re damn right I’m defying science,” eliciting laughter from the hosts.

Last week, Rodgers referred to Fauci as a “pharmocrat” and challenged Chiefs' player Travis Kelce to a “duel” or a discussion on vaccines. Rodgers has playfully named Kelce “Mr. Pfizer” following the Kansas City Chiefs tight end's participation in a Pfizer advertisement campaign.
