On Monday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) expressed her approval of Fox News' decision to terminate former host Tucker Carlson, stating that "de-platforming works" and citing that "positive outcomes can occur."
After accusing Tucker Carlson of "incitement of violence" and suggesting that lawmakers must be receptive to investigating legal avenues for regulating news content on networks such as Fox News, Ocasio-Cortez's recent comments endorse the effectiveness of de-platforming as a means of holding individuals and entities accountable.
“Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News — couldn’t have happened to a better guy,” AOC said sarcastically. “What I will say though, is while I’m very glad that the person who is arguably responsible for the, some of the, largest driving some of the most amounts of death threats and violent threats not just to my office, but to plenty of people across the country.”
“I also kind of feel like I’m like waiting for the cutscene at the end of a Marvel movie after all the credits have rolled, and then you see like the villain’s like hand, re-emerge out to grip over like the end of a building or something,” she continued. “But de-platforming works, and it is important and there you go. Good things can happen.”

Following the announcement by Fox News that Tucker Carlson would be departing from the network, there was a notable impact on the media landscape as Carlson had been a dominant force in cable news ratings for several years. Ocasio-Cortez's comments were made in response to this development.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” Fox News said in a statement. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st” Fox News continued. “Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
