Amazon Creates Outrage by Cutting Scene From Christmas Movie

Fans of the classic Christmas film "It’s a Wonderful Life" are furious after Amazon released an abridged version of the movie. The 1946 hit follows businessman George Bailey and has sparked outrage due to one major cut.

Amazon removed a crucial scene known as the "Pottersville scene." This moment is key when George wishes he had never been born, and his guardian angel shows him the chaos that would have ensued. Fans argue that without this scene, the movie loses its depth.

In the original, George tells Clarence, his angel, that he’s better off dead. Clarence then shows him how the town would be different if George had never existed. This alternative reality helps George realize how meaningful his life truly is.

But in Amazon’s version, all of that is missing. Instead, the scene quickly jumps from George’s realization that he must earn his wings to him joyfully running through the streets. Fans were left confused.

The full version is available on Amazon Prime, but the cut version might have been edited due to a copyright issue, according to the Daily Mail. Still, movie lovers are unhappy with the change.

One viewer vented on X, saying, "What an ABOMINATION. The whole point was for George to witness life without him. Without that, the movie’s pointless." Another user said, "It shouldn't exist. What was the point of that????"

Others were equally upset. "Brace yourself for the ‘Abridged’ version," one fan tweeted. "It cuts to George being okay again with no explanation." Another viewer tweeted, "That’s the best, most crucial part of the movie. Just. Wow."

Actor Michael Warburton didn’t hold back either. "F---ing sacrilege. F---ing Streamers," he tweeted about the edit. Fans continued to express their displeasure, calling it one of the worst decisions they've seen from a corporation.
