Awkward Video of 'Kindergartner' Gavin Newsom Goes Viral

The video of California Gov. Gavin Newsom's recent visit to the New College of Florida, which appears to be uncomfortable, is being shared all over social media.

On his visit to Sarasota, Governor Gavin Newsom's conduct in the video has attracted social media attention. The video features the governor applauding without any sound as faculty members and students perform a religious song titled "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" at the liberal arts college. Some of his critics noted the uncomfortable nature of the incident.

City Journal contributing writer and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, Christopher Rufo, promptly highlighted Governor Newsom's demeanor and physical gestures in the video, claiming that he displayed childlike behavior similar to that of a kindergartner.

"Gavin Newsom booked a room at a public library near New College of Florida, told the audience he was ‘crawling out of my skin for you guys,’ and clapped along to the music like a kindergartner at storytime," Rufo tweeted, along with footage of Newsom.

"Serious Patrick Bateman vibes," Rufo continued.

Political podcaster James Lindsay commented on Newsom's video, stating in a tweet that such behavior was typical of the governor. During his trip to Florida, Newsom criticized Governor Ron DeSantis and other politicians for policies he believes have adverse effects on the American way of life.

The visit was unplanned and part of Newsom's tour of Republican-led states, which he had previously prohibited official travel to for a week. At the North Sarasota Public Library, Newsom engaged with around 24 individuals, including students, faculty, and community members from the New College, in response to DeSantis' appointment of six conservative board members.
