Dr Pepper Vanilla Float is back—and fans are ecstatic. The limited-edition flavor, often hailed as the “Holy Grail of soft drinks,” has returned just in time for summer.
Despite its cult following, many people have never even heard of it. “What?! How have I never heard of this flavor?” one Reddit user asked. Another wrote, “I was shook when I saw it on the shelf.”
There’s a reason it’s so rare: Vanilla Float is only released during summer—and only in a handful of Southeastern states.
For those lucky enough to try it, the reviews are glowing. One fan said it tastes like “a McDonald's vanilla milkshake with a hint of Dr Pepper.” Others say it outperforms both Dr Pepper Cream Soda and Creamy Coconut.
“The best flavor of Dr Pepper,” one fan insisted. “It should replace cream soda.” Another added, “One of the best sodas I’ve had in a long time.”
So why isn’t it everywhere? A Dr Pepper spokesperson says it’s only bottled by one company in Louisiana and distributed in states like Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana.
Still, some fans have scored it internationally, including in Germany and Finland. If you’re outside the distribution zone, your best bet might be Amazon—if you’re willing to spend $25 for a case.
The flavor is only available through July, so whether you’re road-tripping or splurging, don’t wait too long.
