Border Czar Tom Homan is celebrating the passage of President Trump’s new reconciliation bill, calling it a crucial win for border security. Speaking to The Daily Wire outside the White House, Homan said, “We’ve made a lot of progress on the border, but we want to keep it permanent.”
He emphasized the bill’s funding for the border wall and interior enforcement. “Every place the border barrier’s been built, illegal immigration went down, illegal drug flow went down,” Homan said. “So we gotta put more border wall up.”
The House narrowly passed the bill early Thursday, 215 to 214, after grueling overnight sessions. Homan said the funding isn’t just for walls — it’s also for high-tech tools to catch illegal crossings. “We need the technology added to the wall,” he said. “It’s gonna let us know when people approach, climb over, or dig under it.”
Technology is also needed at ports of entry. Homan said it helps stop drugs and other contraband while keeping trade flowing. He also stressed that ICE is underfunded. “They’ve got about 50,000 people in beds. We’re funded for 34,000. ICE is already in the hole.”
“We need more money for boots on the ground,” he added. “We should have at least a hundred thousand beds. More money for transportation, more for contractors so agents can focus on arresting bad guys.”
Homan said deportation numbers are rising under Trump. “Criminals arrested by ICE are about three times higher than Joe Biden under the same timeframe,” he claimed. “But it should be ten times higher.”
He said border security should be bipartisan but criticized Democrats for blocking efforts. “I think a lot of ’em put politics over public safety plus politics over national security.”
Homan called the success of the Trump plan a direct contrast to Biden’s record. “We’re proving ’em wrong by arresting people they released, who have significant criminal histories,” he said. “We’re arresting national security threats every week.”
Having worked under six presidents since 1984, Homan says he knows what works. “What we’re doing right now is working. It’s a game changer,” he said. “Love your community more than you hate President Trump.”
