Costco Hack Shows Members Hows to Get Discounts on Airlines Tickets

Costco membership comes with a variety of perks, some of which might surprise the typical member. For instance, were you aware of the discounts on Southwest Airlines flights? Financial expert Ravi Wadan highlighted this benefit in a recent TikTok, detailing how members can obtain reduced-price gift cards for the airline.

"It surprises me how many people don’t know this, but Costco.com actually sells gift cards to some of your favorite places at a discount,” he mentioned in the clip, pointing out that numerous brand gift cards are available on Costco's site for a price lower than their nominal value.

Southwest Airlines, a prominent brand, has a $500 gift card available on Costco.com for $450, translating to a 10% discount. Additionally, there's a special offer until the end of today, October 13, that provides an extra $20 off, bringing the discount to approximately 14%. As one individual pointed out in the comments, using a cash-back card could result in even more savings.

While different brands have varied regulations, every Costco member is allowed to buy two of these discounted $500 gift cards online. This means potential savings of around $140 on flight bookings worth $1,000.

However, there are some details to be aware of in the terms and conditions, like the fact that these gift cards are not returnable and cannot be used on third-party reservation websites. Nonetheless, it's an excellent opportunity and showcases another way a Costco membership might provide unexpected savings.
