Dawson's Creek Star Bashes DNC for Protecting President Biden

former dawson's creek star james van der beek

Actor James Van Der Beek strongly criticized the Democratic National Committee's decision to abandon primary debates between President Joe Biden and other 2024 presidential contenders.

"I mean, what the hell? How is this a democracy?" Van Der Beek said in a viral TikTok that has over 50,000 views.

"I cannot get over the fact that the Democratic National Committee is saying there will not be a debate to decide the nominee for president. Are you f---ing kidding me? There’s no debate?" Van Der Beek said.

"There’s no debate over an 80-year-old man who, if he lives, will be the oldest sitting president in the history of the country? And if he doesn’t live, has a vice president whose approval rating is worse than his?" he added, with a dig at Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to a recent Fox News poll, Vice President Harris has experienced a significant decline in approval ratings among Democrats, dropping by 4 points since January, reaching a new low. Additionally, her approval ratings among women (42%) and Hispanics (48%) are nearing record lows, with only slight differences compared to previous lows of 41% and 47%, respectively.

"This guy has obviously declining mental faculties," the former Dawson's Creek star said. "You’re putting him up in front of a podium with flashcards telling him who to call on and what the questions are going to be. And you’re telling us there’s no debate? What about the will of the people?"

On April 25, President Biden made his official announcement for reelection, joined by Vice President Harris. Following this, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) declared their support for Biden and stated that they had no intentions of organizing primary debates with other Democratic challengers.

This decision sparked criticism from certain members of the party. Notably, Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who are challengers to Biden, strongly condemned the DNC for their failure to hold primary debates. Kennedy went as far as describing the process as "rigged."
